Objectives / Concept Note
The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Public Works of Government of Indonesia, the Ministry of the Environment of Japan, and the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) co-organized the Fifth Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific from 25 to 27 February 2014 in Surabaya, IndonesiaUnder the overall theme of "Multilayer Partnerships and Coalition as the Basis for 3Rs Promotion in Asia and the Pacific�," the Fifth Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific aims to address various forms of partnerships and coalition for implementation of the Ha Noi 3R Declaration (2013-2013). The multilayer partnerships among key stakeholders are essential for effective promotion and implementation of 3Rs which is much beyond municipal waste management, and are intrinsically linked with resource efficiency in a wide range of key development sectors such as agriculture, industry, and energy, among others, toward transitioning to a resource efficient economy and society.
