UNCRD supported and participated in the Fifth 3R Conference for Asian Local Governments hosted by the Japan Environmental Sanitation Center (JESC) and co-organized by Kawasaki City, Ministry of the Environment, Japan, and Tokyo Metropolitan Government on 29 January 2013 in Kawasaki, Japan. The Conference adopted the Kawasaki Declaration to further promote municipal 3R-oriented SWM policies, technologies transfer, and the roles of central governments and international organizations. The Declaration addresses, among others, the need for collaboration with the Regional 3R Forum in Asia in making further progress of the Conference.
