Introduction
Conflict, combined with frequent droughts have worsened economic and social conditions of Somalis forcing them to migrate long distances out of their country to into Dadaab refugee camp. Located in underdeveloped area of Kenya, the camp also suffers from a high level of human insecurity, drought and conflict. To impart knowledge and build competency of the refugees and host community in Conflict Prevention and Management, UNCRD Africa Office in partnership with International Organization for Migration (IOM), designed and implemented a Training Workshop for Capacity Building on Enhanced Knowledge and Competency in Conflict Prevention and Management, targeting both the refugees and the host community. This was the first workshop in a series of training workshops aimed at empowering both the refugees and host community to attain economic independence.
