

Panelist in 'World Water Challenges and Intelligent Solutions' on Wednesday, 15 August 2018 in Suzhou, P. R. China - 16 Aug 2018

She discussed about major challenges of water resources in countries with emerging economy. In the panel discussion, she advocated for efficient wastewater treatment and recycling, groundwater protection and sustainable use of water resources, which are also in accordance with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals. She explained that some part of Punjab state of India still suffers from groundwater contamination due to excessive use of pesticides during the Green Revolution. She recalled the significant outcome of 8th Regional 3R Forum in Indore, India, where similar water challenges were discussed by mayors of international and local cities. Around 40 Mayors and City Authorities of local and international cities signed the Indore 3R Declaration on 'Achieving Clean Water, Clean Land and Clean Air in Cities'. Although the two-third of the world is covered with water, the access to clean water for all has always been a matter of concern, therefore, she noted that it is important to discuss and find some intelligent sustainable solutions of these challenges.
