Training Workshop on Smart Cities in Republic of Indonesia - 14 Nov 2022
On 10 November, UNCRD organized the "In-country Training Workshop on Smart Cities for Building Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Cities and Communities for Republic of Indonesia", as a part of G20 Special Event in Bali "Building Back Stronger from Impacts of COVID-19, Climate Change, and Disasters -- Actions towards Quality Society", which was organized by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia and the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP). Following opening remarks by Head of UNCRD, special address was delivered by Deputy Governor of Bali, Regent of Banyuwangi, Mayor of Makassar, Mayor of Medan, Mayor of Tangerang, and Assistant Vice-Minister, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). Keynote presentation was also made by Deputy Head for Green and Smart Global City, Nusantara Capital City Authority (NCCA) of the Republic of Indonesia. Mayors and senior officials from 10 local governments participated in the Training Workshop to exchanged opinions and shared experiences on Smart Cities, which has a potential as a viable solution to urban problems in both developing and developed countries.
