UNCRD contribution as a Supporting Organization to the 2nd Online Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability, 14-16 July 2021 (Online) - 25 Jul 2021
UNCRD delivered a presentation at the 2nd Online Symposium on Circular Economy and Sustainability, Alexandroupolis, Greece, 14-16 July 2021, which was co-organized by the Department of Environmental Engineering, Democritus University, Thrace and various partners, International Network for Economic Research, Hellenic Association for Energy Economics, ENIRISST, UNCRD and among others. The Symposium aimed to explore various circular economy solutions and novel business models. About 750 participants from 40 countries comprising of academia, NGOs, national and local government officers, private sectors, UN and international organizers and donor agencies took part in the Conference. UNCRD delivered a presentation on "Turning Waste into Value - Implications of Circular Economy" and Chaired a Session. UNCRD remarked that the principle of 3R and circular economy support the transition to sustainable material cycle society, and the raw material should repeatedly go through reuse and recycle with the involvement of public-private-partnership. UNCRD showcased the new initiatives and national strategies of circular economy of Japan, India, Vietnam, and Thailand. UNCRD underscored multiple benefits of utilization of 3R and circular economic development approaches towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.
