| Venue: | Bogotá, Colombia |
The outcomes of the Human Security Assessment process undertaken in the Bogotá-Cundinamarca Region, generated the interest of the Special Administrative Unit of Public Services of Bogotá (UAESP, Spanish Acronym), which requested technical assistance from UNCRD-LAC to use the Human Security Assessment methodology in analyzing the conditions of vulnerability in communities affected by the open waste disposal dump of Bogotá (called "Doña Juana"). This analysis will serve as a key input to formulating the Social Management Plan to address the problems and vulnerabilities of the communities. The assessments, which will be of a participatory nature between the City administration and the communities involved, expects to minimize, mitigate, and compensate the impact generated by the open-dump in nearby communities. The project was launched in a meeting open to community leaders and public-at-large of the affected territories, with the participation of local mayors and public officials of the UAESP.
