Training Course on School Safety with JICA-Hyogo (2008-2010)

Based on accumulated experiences as well as in building administration, the training programme of JICA-Hyogo on "Safer School against Disasters" (subtitled Dissemination of Anti-seismic Buildings for Communities) in Asian countries , conducted in close cooperation with the UNCRD Hyogo Office, is designed to meet the needs of national and local governments in developing countries to build their capacity and develop practical knowledge of earthquake-resistant policies for earthquake-safer schools.

This training programme aims to the build the capacity of government officials and engineers to develop action plans and implement school earthquake safety planning measures for their respective countries. This will contribute not only to ensuring the safety of schools, but also to building safer communities. The first training was held in November 2008 for one month and the project's duration is three years.
