The Regional EST Policy Dialogue and Training Workshop for South Asia and South-East Asian Cities under the theme of "Building Resilient and Sustainable Cities through EST Solutions & Measures ~ Realizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" was held at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Pathumthani, Thailand on 10-12 October 2017. The Training Workshop was co-organized by the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) of Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) / UN DESA, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), Ministry of Transport (MOT), the Royal Thai Government
Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Ministry of the Environment of the Government of Japan (MOEJ), Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Government of Germany, German International Cooperation (GIZ), The Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP), Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI), Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT). The training aims to build the capacity of cities and local government authorities in support of SDGs 11-Make Cities and Human Settlements Inclusive, Safe, Resilient and Sustainable by 2030.

The training was attended by more than 100 participants, comprising high-level national and local representatives from 35 cities, international experts and resource persons, representatives from United Nations and international organizations, scientific and research organizations and other stakeholders from twenty countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, the People's Republic of China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam.
